Lennart Karl shines: The better Wirtz for FC Bayern?

Football has once again caused a lot of excitement everywhere! In the summer, Florian Wirtz moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool FC for a considerable sum of up to 150 million euros. A reason to be happy for the Premier League? Perhaps. However, this change was initially seen as a setback for FC Bayern. After all, the Munich team also had their eye on Wirtz and were prepared to dig deep into their pockets. But the player had other plans and decided to take on the challenge in England. As the PICTURE reports, Wirtz hasn't really gotten going in Liverpool so far - 13 games, no goals.

In the meantime, Bayern are experiencing real heights with a young talent from their own youth ranks. Lennart Karl, only 17 years old, has recently caused a sensation in the attacking midfield. With impressive performances and two competitive goals - one in the Champions League against Bruges and one in the Bundesliga against Mönchengladbach - he surprised and delighted the fans. In addition to his goals, his quick dribbling and precision in long-range shots also stand out. Karl came for free from his own academy and is valued by the fans as a figure of identification, while Bayern had to pay a three-digit million sum for Wirtz.

Look ahead

Sports director Max Eberl also commented on the rumors surrounding Wirtz. He emphasizes that the transfer is currently not a high priority and that Bayern is busy with other issues. Speculation about a possible return is currently on the back burner. Eberl explains that financial questions are pushed into the background as the current sporting direction and a plan for the upcoming summer transfer windows are in the foreground. Nevertheless, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have expressed interest in Wirtz and hope that he will one day wear the colors of FC Bayern.

Hoeneß sees the financial challenges associated with a transfer and makes it clear that a transfer fee of over 100 million euros would be due if Bayern were serious. Wirtz's contract with Bayer Leverkusen runs until 2027, and only time will tell if and when another move will take place. Eberl has already proven with Harry Kane that FC Bayern is ready to take on the best players - but for now the focus remains on the talents already in the squad, such as the outstanding Lennart Karl.

Bavaria saves on other investments

The lost Wirtz transfer could have even saved Bayern money on other players, for example Luis Díaz, who moved from Liverpool to Bayern for 67.5 million euros. On a day when the market is constantly changing, the people of Munich show a good hand when it comes to investing in the future. Even if the name Wirtz is currently less in focus, it could still play a role in the future - but for now the spotlight is on the talented Lennart Karl!
