Basketball return: Lukas Edler puts Nördlingen on the road to success!

In the last few weeks there have been numerous exciting developments in the basketball scene that also affect our region. Basketball player Lukas Edler from Hohenwart celebrated a very special comeback, finally back on the field after eight years abroad. However, not in the well-known colors of the Schrobenhausen Green Devils, but for the second team of TSV Nördlingen. This is reported by the Danube Courier.

Lukas Edler is coming back to the local basketball world and recently competed against the third representative of the SSV in the Schrobenhausen middle school hall. Here he was able to see old friends again, including his former teammates Thomas Assenbrunner and Matthias Straub, with whom he once celebrated success as part of the Green Devils. Edler, who was crowned German U16 champion in 2014, is now one of the more experienced players in the young Nördlinger team.

Successful comeback and game progression

Edler played in Schrobenhausen from 2014 to 2017, but an injury put an end to his career. After his basketball break, Edler lived in Spain, where he trained as a chiropractor. In August 2023, the family returned to Nördlingen, which is a great win for them. His new team has only lost once this season, in the first leg against the Green Devils. In the last game of the year, Nördlingen even managed an impressive 85:70 win against Schrobenhausen after initially trailing 48:60. This secured the Nördlingers Schrobenhausen's first defeat of the season.

An important phase is now approaching for TSV 1861 Nördlingen. The team is currently in fourth place in the men's regional league and is fighting for a place in the intermediate round. Head coach Ajtony Imreh will motivate his protégés when third-placed Haching visits the Hermann Kessler Hall on Saturday. The Hachingers have a strong record of eight wins and four defeats, and Niklas Kropp is the team's top scorer with 20.7 points per game. An exciting duel between the threesome specialists from Nördlingen, Scottie Stone, and Kropp is coming up and promises to thrill the audience.

A look at the entire league

The first men's team from TuSLi Berlin is also in full swing in the regional league arena. They recently celebrated promotion to the 1st Regionalliga after a season full of skill in which they only suffered two defeats. With sixteen wins under their belt, the team has shown that their ambitions are bearing fruit. The last two games are now awaited with great anticipation, while fans can support their team for the last home game in the Goethe Hall on March 15th. Congratulations to all players and coaches for the outstanding season, which also includes... TuSLi brought a well-deserved success!

With all of these events in basketball, we can only hope that both Lukas Edler and the teams from Nördlingen and Berlin will continue to offer exciting matches and delight their fans with great performances. It will be exciting to see what surprises and highlights await us in the coming weeks!
