World Children's Day in Neuburg: Fun and solidarity against poverty!
On September 20, 2025, it's that time again: World Children's Day will be celebrated throughout Germany, and in Neuburg there will be a very special festival on Schrannenplatz. Under the motto “ArMUT is not child’s play,” the AWO is organizing a colorful festival that will delight visitors from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with playful activities, dances and performances by various groups. The anticipation can already be felt in the city, because people are coming together here to set an example for the rights of children. Donaukurier reports.
The festival is not only characterized by local clubs such as the youth orchestra of the city band, the Burgfunken or the choir of the St. Elisabeth School. TSV Neuburg will also be there. As part of the festival, visitors can expect creative presentations from the district youth ring, youth parliament, dream theater and Kolping youth around the fountain. To make the festival a real experience for the little ones, the AWO has prepared many attractions: a bouncy castle, a wheel of fortune, fragrant popcorn and an oversized Monopoly game on the theme of “Courage Against Poverty” are on the program.
Promote the future with games and donations
The event also has a deeper meaning: by selling at the stands and setting up red piggy banks at Schrannenplatz, money is collected to support 40 children from precarious backgrounds with 100 euros a month for a year. This initiative shows how important it is to actively combat child poverty and strengthen children's rights. After one year, the children's use of the money is scientifically evaluated.
But World Children's Day is not just an event locally; exciting activities are also taking place at the national level. The German Children's Fund and UNICEF have organized a hands-on activity for this day under the motto "Children's Rights - Building Blocks for Democracy!" brought into being. This campaign has already mobilized over 1,000 young people to contribute their demands and messages. On this day, a monument to democracy will be built at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, in which not only children and young people, but also the press and politicians will take part. This sends a strong message: the concerns of the young generation deserve to be heard and respected. Also reported on this campaign The German Children's Fund.
A global symbol for children's rights
The importance of children's rights is celebrated not only in Germany, but worldwide. UNICEF highlights that World Children's Day has been an important occasion to draw attention to children's rights since it was established by the United Nations in 1954. This day is celebrated in over 145 countries, with the focus always being on the rights and well-being of children. Particular attention is paid to concerns relating to protection from violence and the right to education. Dr. In this context, Petra Bahr emphasizes that the implementation of children's rights is a cornerstone of our democracy. UNICEF would like to encourage all children and young people to become part of this important movement and to raise their voices. So be there on September 20th: Let's celebrate the rights of children together and experience an unforgettable day!
