In the early morning hours of October 26th, a dramatic traffic accident occurred near Neumarkt, which not only injured five people, but also left a 20-year-old driver in a critical situation. According to reports from Central Bavarian, the young man was driving a Hyundai when, for reasons that are still unclear, he drove into the oncoming lane. In a head-on collision with an oncoming Tesla, the driver sustained serious injuries and was flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter. Doctors report life-threatening injuries that severely affect his chances of survival.

Of the five people involved in the accident, another passenger in the Hyundai was also seriously injured, but his life is not in danger. Two occupants of the Tesla suffered minor injuries and were treated on an outpatient basis. The police have already called in experts to clarify the exact cause of the accident while the road was closed for more than three hours. The material damage to both vehicles is assessed as a total loss.

Another accident with a young driver

Just a few days earlier, there was another incident in the Neumarkt urban area, which also involved a young driver. How Northern Bavaria reported that a 20-year-old man was driving on Amberger Strasse and caused an accident with a 48-year-old car driver due to a mistake while overtaking. This collision caused both vehicles to leave the road. The older driver's car overturned and landed on a cycle path and footpath, while the 20-year-old's car came to a stop in an adjacent garden.

Luckily, both drivers were able to get out of their totally damaged vehicles on their own. Only one of them suffered minor injuries. The total damage to all those involved is estimated at over 70,000 euros. The police are also investigating here and reconstructing the course of the accident.

Although the number of young drivers involved in accidents has fallen in recent years, the risk to them remains high, especially outside built-up areas and in incidents with other vehicles.
