Construction work in Chiemgau: timetable chaos between Munich and Salzburg!
Especially in the summer months, when many travelers head to the most beautiful corners of Bavaria and Austria, Deutsche Bahn (DB) carries out massive construction work. According to innpuls.me, there will be a lot of work on the important route between Munich, Rosenheim and Salzburg from August 1st to 10th, 2025. This means for commuters and travelers that they have to be prepared for timetable deviations, canceled stops and even rail replacement services (SEV).
Anyone traveling on this route will notice that the Munich East stop is canceled. This is not entirely without problems, as there will also be cancellations on individual connections between Salzburg Central Station and Übersee. In order to remain mobile, replacement rail services with buses are planned between Grafing train station and Bad Endorf and Salzburg main train station.
Construction work in detail
However, the construction work is not a one-off event. As the BRB informs, these will be in full swing from Friday, August 1st, 2025, to Sunday, August 10th, 2025. While SEV will be used between Bad Endorf and Freilassing on the first weekend, it will move between Übersee and Freilassing from Sunday, August 3rd. To make this challenging time a little more convenient, express buses are even being used.
Changes are also to be expected with regard to night times. On the nights of August 9th to 10th and 10th to 11th, changes may be expected to the last connections on the Munich - Rosenheim - Kufstein route. Passengers must also keep a close eye on the new departure times.
Important information for travelers
The buses and trains sometimes operate at different times than usual and this can of course have a significant impact on travel planning. It is therefore advisable to download the special timetables, which will soon be available on the website www.brb.de. However, train connections that are not listed in the special timetable run according to the regular timetable, which should be a small relief.
The BRB also offers the option of subscribing to a newsletter in order to stay informed about major disruptions and construction sites. Real real-time information is also available via the BRB's various social media channels, including Facebook and WhatsApp, which can be reached at www.brb.de/whatsapp.
In summary: It can be turbulent in the coming days on the route between Munich and Salzburg. Passengers should definitely be well prepared and inform themselves in advance. It remains to be hoped that the construction work will be completed quickly and smoothly so that travelers can soon enjoy their trips undisturbed again.
