Transit Art Festival 2025: Rosenheim is transformed into an art paradise!

The sixth Transit Art Festival opened in Rosenheim on July 8, 2025 and lasts until July 13. Under the motto “Art for All”, international and national artists attract attention with their large-format murals. This year, five new works will be created in the city, representing another highlight in the already remarkable collection of 35 murals that have been realized with a lot of effort and commitment since 2013. The festival not only provides fresh paint on the walls, but also cultural enrichment, as the works often leave behind social and political messages.

The opening took place in the Städtische Galerie Rosenheim, although the weather gods were not on the artists' side and rain somewhat dampened their celebrations. Nevertheless, prominent artists such as Johannes Brechter, Jeroo, Innerfields, Georgia Hill and the Argentinian duo Ciclope Arte didn't let their good mood be spoiled. The latter is taking care of one of the new murals at Schirmbeckstrasse 10, while other facades are being designed at Spitalstrasse 6 and Innstrasse 55d. Local institutions such as the Westerndorf St. Peter middle school and the Küpferling senior living facility have also made their walls available.

A festival for the whole city

Visitors to the festival have the opportunity to look over the shoulders of the artists at work and to have a direct conversation. This interactive component makes the event particularly charming. Under the motto that art should not only be viewed but also experienced, those interested can experience the creation process of the works of art up close. “Murals serve as visual comments and cultural bridges,” explains Third Mayor Gabriele Leicht, who also emphasized the importance of proximity to the artists.

For anyone who would like to delve even deeper into the subject, guided bike tours to the festival highlights will be offered on July 10th, 11th, 16th and 12th. The tours start at 6 p.m. every day, except on July 12th, when the meeting point is at 4 p.m. Tickets are available for just 8 euros and registration is required, although you must bring your own bikes. These guided tours not only offer a good opportunity to actively explore the city, but also a nice community experience.

Art as part of urban design

In Germany, street art festivals such as the Transit Art Festival are among the most important cultural events that bring artists and art lovers together. They offer a platform for creative expression and reinforce the identity of urban spaces. Events like these help to promote social dynamics and have a long-term positive impact on urban development. Especially in cities like Rosenheim, which are actively committed to creative projects, it is clear how closely art is integrated into the everyday life of residents.

For anyone interested, there is a festival flyer with a map and background information about the new murals in the Städtische Galerie Rosenheim.
