On July 6, 2025, a thrilling test match took place between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and 1. FC Schweinfurt as part of preparations for the coming season. Jena ultimately won the game 3-1 after coach Volkan Uluc's team delivered a strong first half. Schweinfurt started the game with enthusiasm and had two good chances in the first few minutes through Joshua Endres (5th and 7th minute). But it was Jena who scored the first goal in the 30th minute through Manassé Eshele when his shot found the net under the crossbar.

It wasn't until the 72nd minute that Michael Dellinger managed to make it 1:3 for Schweinfurt, but Jena hardly had any significant offensive action in the second half. Also on the same day, FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt played a test match against Alemannia Aachen at the Volkspark Stadium in Gotha, in front of 1,421 spectators. Erfurt had to admit defeat 1:2. Aachen took the lead early through Valmir Sulejmani in the 9th minute, but the Erfurt team was able to convert a penalty in the 32nd minute through Maxime Awoudja to make it 1-1. In the second half, Erfurt tried to turn things around, but were thrown back again by Aachen in the 77th minute through Simon Joachims, who made it 2-1.
