Pilgrimage to Planá: Celebrate and believe on the feast of St. Anne!

An eventful weekend is just around the corner! On July 26th and 27th, 2025, the Heimatkreis Plan-Weseritz e.V. invites you to its annual pilgrimages and the traditional St. Anne festival in Planá in the Czech Republic. This event has developed into a special highlight for the committed community and offers a colorful program that combines faith and tradition. The pilgrimage begins on July 26th with a gathering of pilgrims meeting at the border at 5:45 a.m. before reaching the market square in Planá at 9:15 a.m.

The pilgrimage service, which takes place at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Anna, is organized by the Tirschenreuth parish. The focus here is on community and reflection before the funeral honors at the cemetery in Mähring at 3:15 p.m. A special highlight of the first day is the members' meeting of the Heimatkreis Plan-Weseritz e.V., which will be held at 4 p.m. in the Schützenheim Mähring. Saturday will be rounded off with a convivial evening in the festival tent from 7.30 p.m. The Großkonreuth brass band will certainly create an exuberant atmosphere.

The big Sunday

Sunday, July 27th, starts early with the procession at 8:45 a.m. at St. Anna Square in Mähring, followed by the pilgrimage to the St. Anna Memorial Church on Pfaffenbühl, which starts at 9 a.m. This is another highlight, where the pilgrims gather again to celebrate the festival service with Bishop Tomáš Holub from Pilsen and other priests. If the weather is bad, this service will be moved to the parish church of St. Katharina - so that everything stays dry.

After the service there will be a social gathering in the marquee at 11:30 a.m. where participants can exchange ideas about their experiences. The crowning conclusion of the festival weekend is a beautiful bonfire at Pfaffenbühl, which is lit at 8 p.m. and is sure to be an impressive eye-catcher.

The St. Anne's Festival is not only a deep cultural tradition, but also an opportunity for old friends and new ones to come closer together again. Whether at a celebratory church service, in a convivial atmosphere or at a cozy get-together – the focus here is on cohesion. The Heimatkreis Plan-Weseritz e.V. ensures that tradition and faith are held in high regard and that the community feels connected in a special way.
