On the night of June 14th to 15th, 2025, a dangerous fire broke out in an apartment building in Rimpar, in the Würzburg district. The police received an emergency call at 1:45 a.m. and immediately deployed a large-scale deployment of fire departments, rescue services and police. Fortunately, the fire department was able to quickly bring the fire under control, but there were injuries. One person had to be rescued using respiratory protection, while another person was taken to hospital with minor injuries. When the police arrived, a 54-year-old resident of the house confessed to having set the fire. He is therefore suspected of having committed particularly serious arson. The Würzburg public prosecutor's office ordered the person to be brought before an investigating judge and an arrest warrant was issued. The suspect is currently in custody.
Investigations and previous incident
The suspicion of arson is not unfounded. Similar cases have been increasing recently, which has attracted the attention of the authorities. Investigators also suspect arson in Somplar, where a house fire was recently discovered. The criminal police were able to rule out a technical defect as the cause. An elderly couple, whose house fell victim to a fire 13 years ago, were on vacation far away from home at the time of the fire. The estimated damage here is around 100,000 euros, and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated after the fire site was viewed by the State Criminal Police Office, reports HNA.
The fire department also had to lend a hand in this case. 75 emergency services from different locations came together to put out the fire. Despite all efforts, the house could not be saved because one part burned out completely and the other part was damaged as a result of the extinguishing work. It turns out that house fires represent a danger that should not be underestimated, especially in rural areas.
