Star singer campaign 2026: Children in Bangladesh need our help!
Today, January 2, 2026, the star singers are at the door again, ready to bring a blessing into homes and collect money for an important cause. This year's star singer campaign focused on Bangladesh to draw attention to the alarming conditions of child labor in this country. How pow.bistum-wuerzburg.de reports, a report with reporter Willi Weitzel, who meets children who work in factories, will be broadcast next Sunday, January 4th, on the ecumenical television magazine “Kirche in Bayern”. Moderated by Agnes Krafft, this article is intended to shed light on the situation and show how many children can be freed from exploitative child labor through the support of the star singers and their project partners.
The issue of child labor is urgent. An estimated 1.7 million children are affected in Bangladesh. More than a million of these children find themselves in dangerous working conditions, where they often have to fight for their own survival on their own. UNICEF reports that the economic hardship of many families means that they are dependent on their children's income. Child labor in Bangladesh is a vicious circle from which it is difficult to escape.
Projects against child labor
The ARKTF Foundation, also known as the Abdur Rashid Khan Thakur Foundation, is committed to fighting exploitative child labor in Jessore. With the support of sternsinger.de work is being done to promote children's rights and child protection. Intervention teams are tasked with identifying and freeing underage children from inhumane working conditions. To achieve this goal, we work with children, parents, employers and authorities to improve working conditions and make schools more accessible.
The foundation has set up a total of seven centers for affected children. Here the children not only receive psychological care, but also lessons and leisure activities. An important step to not only improve their quality of life, but also pave a path to a better future.

The star singer groups, such as those from Ingolstadt and the diocese of Regensburg, are not only bearers of blessings, but also ambassadors of hope in symbolic actions around January 6th. The donations collected flow into projects that support children worldwide, which once again underlines the importance of the star singer campaign. However, it should be noted that there is no guarantee that donations will be used exclusively for individual projects. Nevertheless, every help is necessary to sustainably improve the conditions for children in Bangladesh and elsewhere, as well as on unicef.at is executed.
