Wolff demands: We beat everyone! A European Championship medal is possible!

Handball national goalkeeper Andreas Wolff is worried about the challenges ahead, but also sees great opportunities for the German team at the European Championships next year. According to him, the group draw was more of a “nightmare” than a dream, but he firmly believes that the team is capable of defeating all opponents, even the strong Danes. This European Championship will take place from January 15th to February 1st in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

The German selection will face Austria, Spain and Serbia in the preliminary round. These opponents are considered to be quite beatable, which Wolff sees as the basis for his team's performance. With a clear goal in mind - reaching the semi-finals and the first European Championship medal since 2016 - the 34-year-old appeals to his teammates to get the most out of themselves.

The path to the medal

For Wolff, who was already involved in winning the title in 2016, it is now important to build euphoria and self-confidence in the team. He emphasizes: “If we play at the limit, we can beat anyone.” But he believes it is essential to warn against excessive expectations. In the main round, the German team could face challengers such as world champions Denmark, France, Norway and Portugal.

Wolff emphasizes that the team consists of an exciting mix of experienced veterans and hungry talents. The young players in particular bring a breath of fresh air and motivation. “We have the potential to rock the European Championships,” said the goalkeeper optimistically.

The quality of the team

The discussion about the group draw has already caused a stir in the handball community. Many supporters are behind Wolff and the German team, which promises an interesting dynamic. However, the challenge of performing at the highest level can also create great pressure. Wolff, as the oldest player in the squad, sees himself as responsible for pulling his teammates along and motivating them.

It remains to be seen how the team will prepare for the European stage in the coming weeks. Everyone is aware that the European Championships won't be a walk in the park, but with the right attitude the team could perhaps actually fight for a medal. Wolff and the other players are in the starting blocks, ready for the adventure that will hopefully lead them into the success story of German handball.

The fans in Germany now have to keep their fingers crossed and wait and see how the team performs. Currently, all quality, will and team spirit are required to make the dream of a medal come true. We can only hope that Wolff's optimistic assessment comes true.
