Scandal in the district: swastika graffiti discovered at a festival!
In recent days, several incidents of swastika graffiti in the Rotenburg/Bebra district have caused great concern. Loud HNA During the Swing and Wine Festival, some visitors were observed giving Hitler salutes and chanting xenophobic slogans. These frightening incidents were immediately reported by other festival-goers, prompting police to investigate the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations and sedition.
But this is not the only case of right-wing radicalism affecting the region. In Bergfelden on Sunday, a resident discovered a swastika and the words “Jude” in a motorway underpass. Mayor Gerd Hieber reacted promptly and informed the police and the highway maintenance department about the disgusting graffiti. This wants to paint over problematic content immediately, while ordinary graffiti is not covered, according to a report by Black Forest messenger emerges.
A strong sign against racism
In view of these incidents, it is more important than ever to take a stand against racism and right-wing extremism. A well-attended democracy forum at the Hersfeld-Rotenburg Future Academy underlined the great interest in democratic values. Courageous behavior by all those who speak out against such acts is considered essential. “Democracy needs democrats,” it says in the context and illustrates the importance of an active civil society.
On a political level, the Bad Hersfeld city council has taken a step in the right direction and adopted a funding guideline for business developments in the city center. The city is providing a total of 20,000 euros for this, with each applicant receiving a maximum of 4,000 euros. In this way, five new business start-ups could be supported, which would help strengthen the local economy.
Hesse's water quality is impressive
There is good news from Hesse for summer bathing days: at the beginning of the bathing season, excellent water quality was found in the state's waters. The water in Fulda in Breitenbach is particularly exemplary, although the visibility is limited due to algae growth. There are no health concerns at Seepark Kirchheim either, which increases the anticipation of swimming. The rule of thumb to avoid accidents, according to which the visibility of the feet in the water should be taken into account, remains unchanged.
A total of 58 of 61 Hessian EU bathing waters were rated “excellent”. The rest received a grade of “good,” which is little cause for concern. These positive developments in terms of water quality underline that, in addition to combating social problems, strengthening communities and the environment is also important.
The need to combat racism and extremism in our midst is of course very important. The Cabinet Committee's extensive catalog of measures to combat right-wing extremism and racism also addressed, among other things, the promotion of democracy and the expansion of local commitments. More than one billion euros will be made available for this purpose in the coming years BMFSFJ explained in a report.
It is up to all of us to actively stand up against extremism and fight for a colorful and diverse society.
