New language program for children starts in the Main-Taunus district!

The language education of children is an important topic that concerns more and more people. Many children in Germany do not have sufficient access to German as a language of education. This not only has an impact on school performance, but also on integration into society. An innovative concept that starts here has now been brought to life by the InSL e.V. association. This association, which was founded in Friedrichsdorf in 2011, has developed a culturally sensitive language support concept that is intended to strengthen the linguistic participation of children in daycare centers and schools. According to Taunus Nachrichen, the program was officially launched on June 11 and aims to reach around 10% of the children in the Main-Taunus district.

The concept is aimed at children from daycare to school leaving school and offers various tailor-made programs. These include the “Language Pirates” for the little ones aged three to six, as well as the “Language Detectives” for primary school children. Language-sensitive homework support is also part of the offer. A special highlight is the digital support tool “Reading with the Turbo Team”, which is provided by Tutoring for all gUG. The program not only promotes narrative skills and vocabulary, but also helps improve reading skills and written expression.

Dream of growing up multilingual

At a time when language diversity in Germany is increasing due to migration and globalization, it is becoming increasingly important that children not only learn German, but can also continue to use their native language. Almost every second child in big cities comes from a family with a migrant background. That is why the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has tried in recent years to create favorable conditions for growing up with several languages. According to Empirical Educational Research, the promotion of language education and the support of the transfer of language learning experiences should help to see multilingualism as an opportunity.

The InSL e.V. program also integrates further training for educational specialists, which significantly increases the quality of language support. Educators can attend multilingual introductory sessions to develop a better understanding of supporting multilingual children. Current offerings include courses for language education in primary school and language support in daycare. In the future, modules for secondary schools will also be offered. These courses are available online and offer participants the opportunity to learn at their own pace over a four-week period. teungedj.de reports that sustained reflection tasks and networking after course completion are part of the program to ensure that what has been learned is implemented in everyday life.

The implementation of the program in the Main-Taunus district represents an important step towards educational equality. The financing by Taunus Sparkasse shows that important local actors are working together to promote language development. This is intended to improve not only school performance, but also social interaction. The hope is that a new generation of children will grow up who are not only linguistically competent, but also have the opportunity to cultivate their cultural roots.
