25 to 300 years: These companies shape the Main-Kinzig district!

What is happening in the Main-Kinzig district? A ceremonial honoring of companies from the region caused a stir and honored the long tradition of the local economy. On October 25, 2025, numerous companies were honored for their remarkable anniversaries, ranging from 25 to an incredible 300 years. This celebration attracted great interest, and Natasha Rohde, who opened the event, emphasized in her welcoming speech the immense importance of these businesses for the regional communities.

Dr. Ingo Köhler, Managing Director of the Hessian Economic Archives, provided exciting insights into the history of the honored companies in his speech. He proudly highlighted the bravery of the founders who took the plunge into entrepreneurship in difficult times. “It takes courage and vision to be able to build something big,” says Köhler. He also emphasized the diversity of companies, ranging from real estate management to transportation services to electronics sales.

In collaboration with the IHK Hanau-Gelnhausen-Schlüchtern, these events offer valuable insights and tips.

Those interested in learning more about the region's economic history can find numerous resources in specialized libraries and archives dedicated to economic history. Some of them can be found in university libraries or at the Technoseum in Mannheim. Active research in local archives can provide valuable insight into our companies' past, and a look at sub-agency files reveals many interesting stories.

The latest honor has once again shown that the companies in the Main-Kinzig district have not only made history, but are also continuing to work to strengthen the region's economic strength. With this in mind: Here’s to the next 300 years!
