Thunderstorms and heavy rain threaten: Hesse on weather watch!
These days we have to be careful: July not only brings summer temperatures, but also severe storms to Hesse. Experts are taking a close look at the weather situation because they are predicting thunderstorms and heavy rain next weekend. How HNA reports, the German Weather Service (DWD) has already issued a level 2 warning for strong thunderstorms, which is valid until at least 5 p.m. in the Waldeck-Frankenberg and Schwalm-Eder-Kreis districts.
This uncomfortable weather situation begins with the changing clouds on Friday, July 11th. The DWD is predicting wet weather in all parts of the country for this day: While the north can expect maximum temperatures of around 22 degrees, the south can expect temperatures of up to 26 degrees. Things don't get much better on Saturday; Intermittent showers and temperatures of up to 21 degrees in the north and up to 27 degrees in the south can be expected here. The wind remains light to moderate, but this does not make the lack of weather changes any more pleasant.
Weather warnings and risk of severe weather
The situation will then worsen further on Sunday: The DWD is once again predicting severe thunderstorms, which may be accompanied by heavy rain locally. A little more sunshine can be expected, especially in southern Hesse, while temperatures fluctuate between 23 and 29 degrees. But be careful: Strong gusts cannot be ruled out during thunderstorms! Weather forecasters are urgently warning of potential dangers from heavy rain and the associated local flooding.
But that's not all. The severe weather warnings cover a variety of weather phenomena. Information about storms, heavy rain or black ice can be found on platforms such as NDR be retrieved. These provide a detailed insight into the danger levels, ranging from simple weather warnings (Level 1) to extreme weather conditions (Level 4).
Expected heat and weather forecasts
The coming days will not only be characterized by thunderstorms. Surprisingly, the weather models have already predicted temperatures of up to 40 to 43 degrees for July 20th - a temperature record that meteorologist Dominik Jung describes as new compared to previous years. The summer heat not only puts you in a good mood, but also a bit of worry about the impending extreme weather conditions.
