Cologne narrowly wins: Wiesbaden can't catch up!
An exciting Sunday evening in Wiesbaden: The two teams met on the pitch to fight for important points in the league. The game between Wiesbaden and Viktoria Köln on November 9, 2025 ended with a narrow 1-0 win for Cologne. The hosts, under the leadership of coach Frank Steinmetz, had previously celebrated a convincing 2-0 win against TSV Havelse and had made some changes to the line-up. The newly substituted goalkeeper Brdar replaced the injured starting goalkeeper Stritzel, while Johannsson and Agrafiotis moved into the starting line-up for the two players Schmelzer and Kaya.
Cologne coach Marian Wilhelm, on the other hand, continued to rely on the team that had recently shone in the 3-1 win against Ingolstadt. After careful scanning, Cologne took control of the action. Lobinger had his first good chance in the 15th minute, but his shot bounced off the outside post. With the next shots on goal it was Handle who hit the crossbar and Otto who was denied by Wiesbaden's keeper Brdar.
An exciting 0-0 at half time
The first half ended without goals, although both teams fought hard for the lead. In the 44th minute, Wiesbaden had the best opportunity through Gözüsirin, but this shot was also parried by Dudu. After the break, Wiesbaden initially showed more initiative, but were unable to create any clear chances. It wasn't until the second half that there was a dangerous move when Bogicevic tested Dudu with a strong shot (70th minute).
The crux of the game finally came in the 83rd minute: Otto managed to convert a header after a volley from Handle and thus make it 1-0. In the final phase, Wiesbaden tried desperately to equalize, but was unsuccessful. So the final score remained 1-0 for Cologne and the Cologne team went home with an important victory. Next games: Wiesbaden will face Waldhof Mannheim on November 22nd, while Cologne will face SC Verl at the same time.
