Wet, wild and beautiful: the horse night enchants Biebrich!
On June 14, 2025, the Biebrich Castle Park experienced an impressive spectacle for the 29th Horse Night, which made the hearts of visitors beat faster despite the pouring rain. The atmospheric evening was the unofficial start of the 87th International Whitsun Tournament Wiesbaden, which attracted horse lovers from all over the region. Spectators gathered under umbrellas and hoods to enjoy a colorful mix of acrobatics, musical numbers and horse performances. The event captivated both young and old with its motto “Poetry and Power”.
The participants enjoyed a wide variety of horse breeds and disciplines. From the impressive performances of the French cowboys with carabacs to the lively Icelandic ponies, there was something for every taste. Police horses were also on duty with flashing lights, which provided additional action. The highlights of the evening were performances by dancers on horses and the performance of Hesse's last equestrian relay - a true festival for horse lovers.
Magical performances in the castle park
Uli Schneider, the creative mind behind the production, put together a show that combined equestrianism, light, music and impressive performances. Particularly noteworthy was the appearance of Yvonne Gutsche and her mare Bailey, who crossed the highest horse bridge in the world and thus showed trust and harmony. The Pan Perdu farm sent 40 Iberian horses and brave stunt riders into the race, who impressively presented the culture of the Camargue. Dramatic scenes from a fight for freedom, portrayed by gladiators from the Nah&Fern show team, provided special highlights.
The audience was also entertained with a musical potpourri by Dorothee Degenhardt and her team, who performed well-known melodies from “The Lion King” and “Aladin”. As the event continued, the bright Pantao wind horses, accompanied by stilt walkers and fire dancers, attracted particular attention.
The evening was given a very special touch by the live painting by the artist Lisca Llorca, who created impressive pictures together with Spanish gray stallions, the proceeds of which were donated to therapeutic riding.
A feast for the senses
The atmosphere of the horse night combined the aroma of the stable air with a festive ambience characterized by courage, muscle play and impressive ring magic. The organizers offered over 150 pictures to the gallery that capture the magic of the evening. Almost everyone present agreed that this was not just an event, but a total work of art that combined both tradition and emotion.
