Current swimming in the Rhine: Experience 7 kilometers of fun on July 12th!
On July 12, 2025, the Rhine will be the scene of a very special event: the current swimming, in which swimmers cover a distance of 7 kilometers from Wiesbaden to Eltville. [Wiesbaden leben] reports that the event begins at 2 p.m., with participants expected to arrive at Hafenweg 17 in Wiesbaden from 1 p.m. to register. Registration takes place directly on site and costs 20 euros, which can only be paid in cash. The event is accompanied by the DLRG safety boats, which ensure the safety of the participants.
After swimming, participants can look forward to access to the rose swimming pool in Eltville, where a warm shower awaits them. A shuttle service back to Schierstein is also offered, which makes the return journey pleasant. Current swimming promises not only sporting challenges, but also an unforgettable experience in one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Germany.
Organization and security
The event is organized by the DLRG district group Wiesbaden and Schierstein e.V., represented by Martin Otter, Jürgen Nessel and Christian Kern. This local group not only monitors security during the event, but is also responsible for data processing related to the event. The information will be treated in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, whereby it will not be passed on to third parties. Questions about data processing can be asked to the DLRG at any time, as it is important that all participants feel comfortable and informed. [Wiesbaden Schierstein] also has some important information about safety in the water.
When using buoyancy aids, be it a swimming ring or an air mattress, the DLRG reminds you that although these have a supportive effect, they can never replace adult supervision. Especially in strong winds or currents, it is important that swimmers regularly check where they are in the water to avoid unwanted drifting. According to the DLRG safety tips, it is crucial to always be vigilant in order to recognize and avoid dangers in good time. [DLRG safety tips]
Current swimming in the Rhine is not only a great opportunity to experience the beauty of the Rhine up close, but also a community event that brings athletes and water lovers together. With the right preparation and safety precautions, nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable experience. So, dare and register – the Rhine is waiting for you!
