Ten years of Obermayr Kita Sonnenberg: A celebration of education and community!

All good things come in threes, and last Saturday the Obermayr Kita Sonnenberg celebrated its tenth anniversary with a colorful summer party at the Löwenspielplatz in Sonnenberg. An event that not only made children's hearts beat faster, but also awakened nostalgic memories and gave the team around Dr. Gerhard Obermayr expressed great praise. The headmaster and sponsor representative took the opportunity to review the history of the daycare center and reflect on its development since it opened in 2012.

At that time the situation in Sonnenberg was anything but rosy. Only twelve daycare places were available, which posed major challenges for the parents. The urgent need for childcare places led to discussions with Detlef Bendl, which ultimately resulted in the decision to use an overgrown area to build the daycare center. The city sold the area on the condition that a kindergarten was built - a first step in a new direction for the community.

From vision to reality

Construction began with an original budget of 2.4 million euros, but costs quickly rose to 4.4 million euros. Despite the financial challenges, the opening of the daycare center was a complete success: four group rooms were created, all of which were occupied soon afterwards. Dr. In his speech, Obermayr praised the work of the dedicated team, in particular the first manager, Ms. Heinrich and her successor Sylvia Genova, whose efforts made a decisive contribution to establishing the daycare center.

Not to be forgotten is Michael Merten, an active member of the parents' council, who received recognition for his support with financing issues. The first few years weren't always easy; Financial difficulties and conflicts with the city caused those responsible some sleepless nights. But with the support of the local council and the then mayor's response to public debates, the daycare center was finally able to cement its foothold in the community.

Pedagogical concept and community

The Obermayr Kita follows an educational concept based on Reggio pedagogy and includes a shared children's restaurant. This concept not only promotes the children's individual development, but also the encounters between children, parents and educators. The daycare's architecture is designed to create an open and welcoming atmosphere in which learning and community are at the forefront.

The anniversary was celebrated as a strong commitment to the importance of education, courage and community. While the guests were entertained by the musician Oliver Mager, the children danced happily in the garden, which impressively underlined the positive mood. It was a day full of joy, celebrating the successes of the last ten years and looking to the future.

The Obermayr Kita Sonnenberg has not only created new childcare places, but also a small piece of home for the families in the area. A strong example of how joint action and commitment can bear fruit!
