Referee day: Möller and his team unanimously re-elected!
A remarkable number of 114 participants came together at the Lastrup sports school on Friday evening for the district referee day. Additional chairs also had to be provided to accommodate everyone present. The outgoing piecing officer Josef Laudenbach, who played a key role in leading the transition to new piecing, looked back over the last few months. Despite his departure, the meeting was marked by good news, as district referee chairman Sebastian Möller and his team were re-elected unopposed for another three years. This is a sign of the trust the refereeing community has in its leadership.
The team formed around Möller consists of the district teacher Fabian Einhaus, the deputy Sarah Willms, the secretary Sebastian Lampe and the new setters Felix Nellißen, Severin Helmes and Marc Goerken. This re-election and the high number of active referees ensure a positive atmosphere in the district. There are currently 272 active referees, 39 more than last season, showing that refereeing is very popular. In order to further promote the referees, the district teacher Fabian Einhaus announced new talent support for a 20-person squad.
Tradition and change
A lot has happened in refereeing in recent years. Lower Saxony's position in the sponsorship system with 42 young referees in fourth place is a remarkable success. The cooperation with the NFV districts of Vechta, Emsland, Oldenburg-Land/Delmenhorst, Ostfriesland and Osnabrück works excellently and contributes to the constant improvement of referee work. A new newsletter was also introduced, which is fortunately receiving an enthusiastic response.
However, the scheduling situation remains tense. Last season around 7,000 games were filled, highlighting the need for a solid organization. Dominik Möller from SV Bethen was honored and set a remarkable record with his 179 appearances. The Bundesliga referees Frank Willenborg and Felix Tiemann also received praise for their performances. Tiemann was even released for the Oberliga and the U19 DFB youth league, while Sarah Willms is already active in the 2nd women's football Bundesliga and leads exciting games.
Referee training in focus
A central aspect of referee work is training. Football referees are not only responsible for the proper conduct of games, but also have to take part in several training evenings. The Bavarian Football Association advocates that new referees be supported by experienced colleagues. These mentors help you to better master the challenges of refereeing and give valuable tips.
The training costs are around 50 euros and include courses and initial equipment worth around 150 euros, which is often covered by the clubs. It includes a total of seven teaching evenings as well as a theory and fitness test that includes a 1000-meter run. The rules for scheduling and their availability are also designed to be flexible to ensure a balance between refereeing and other obligations, such as school or training.
With a motivated team and a clear vision, the future of referees in the district seems promising. Whether new talent or established referees, everyone contributes to ensuring that football operations run smoothly. Commitment and teamwork continue to be essential in order to be able to play guaranteed fair games. A lot will continue to be asked of the referees in the future, but the support in the KSM is strong.
