Adventure on the Vltava: See-Club Zug impresses with a rowing tour!
The See-Club Zug left its mark on the water world with an impressive rowing tour from May 31st to June 5th, 2025. Under the motto “From Prague via Dresden to Meißen”, the rowers mastered 288 kilometers on the Vltava and Elbe, a true adventure that made you feel the breath of the river.
A team of 17 people took the oars and competed in three double quads: “Chriesi”, “Flaneuse” and “Take Five”. A minibus took care of the luggage transport and the lunch picnic - a perfect combination of sport and enjoyment.
The tour became a real experience through a total of 13 locks, some of which were particularly tricky. A highlight of the trip was the passage under the famous Charles Bridge in Prague. Here you can see the wonderful scenery that captivated both the rowers and the spectators. Even though the passage under the Carola Bridge in Dresden was not possible due to technical difficulties, there were many other highlights that captivated the participants.
Varied landscapes and cultural discoveries
The route not only offered a sporting challenge, but also a dazzling range of natural experiences. The drive through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in Saxon Switzerland was particularly impressive because it combined picturesque rocks with a wide view of nature. The Vltava, also known as the Vltava, is the longest river in the Czech Republic at 430 kilometers and flows into the Elbe near Mělník, which rises at the heights of the Giant Mountains and winds over 1,094 kilometers to the North Sea.
However, it wasn't just water sports that were important to the rowers. Cultural activities were also on the agenda. In Prague, they explored, among other things, the majestic Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral and the historic Jewish Quarter as well as the Old Town Hall. In Dresden, the impressive Dresden Zwinger, the Frauenkirche and the splendid Semperoper attracted participants to another cultural highlight.
Practical advice for future adventurers
If you want to experience such adventures yourself, you should prepare well. Traveling by car is practical, thanks to free parking at the contract hotel in Dresden. But there are also options for cyclists: bicycles can be collected at stops on the morning of departure and transported to Prague in a special bicycle trailer. Such a well-coordinated organization makes traveling even more uncomplicated.
A look at the details shows that a minimum number of 30 people is required to form a group for such a tour. Travel agents such as Hanseat Reisen GmbH and Eagle Tours offer helpful information about travel documents and vaccination recommendations. You should also think about appropriate travel insurance to be on the safe side.
In summary, the See-Club Zug rowing tour was not only a sporting adventure, but also a cultural journey of discovery through the idyllic landscapes and historic cities along the Vltava and Elbe. A full program that made the hearts of the participants beat faster and can definitely serve as a showcase for future events.
