Michael Greeve wins the Indoor Friesland 2025 in Wolvega!
The Indoor Friesland 2025 provided excitement and thrills last weekend. As part of the renowned event, rider Michael Greeve won the coveted Paardenkliniek Wolvega Prix with his eight-year-old gelding Rubens. With a time of 40.29 seconds, he secured first place among 40 participating combinations in the challenging 1.45 meter jump. True to the motto “Nothing ventured, nothing gained,” Greeve proved that he is in an excellent phase and is in control of his horses. His partner Rubens, who had previously gained experience at the 1.30 m level, is a real stroke of luck and comes from an American breeder.
In second and third place were Tom Schellekens with the eleven-year-old mare Optima van de Bisschop (41.73 seconds) and Gerco Schröder with the nine-year-old mare Chactula PS (42.36 seconds). Greeve emphasized how important professional management is in the care of sport horses in order to optimally support their performance. This view is also shared by Don van de Winkel, a person in charge of the Paardenkliniek Wolvega, who pointed out the crucial role of specialist knowledge in horse care.
Professional care of sport horses
The Paardenkliniek Wolvega is known for its specialized diagnostic and treatment options for horses. The care offering includes both the clinic and mobile care at the owner's location. The team, made up of recognized equine veterinarians, offers extensive expertise in the examination and treatment of stomach and intestinal problems, cardiac and respiratory diseases, orthopedic problems and even dental matters. The clinic is available 24/7 for emergencies, which is invaluable to many horse owners.
The clinic focuses its work on clear communication. This begins with listening and closely observing the horse as well as exchanging findings and therapy progress. A well-thought-out approach that not only strengthens the welfare of the animals, but also promotes trust between veterinarians and horse owners.
Events and further training
In another notable initiative, a webinar entitled “Error Culture in Veterinary Medicine” will be offered on November 1st. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Holger Volk from the Hannover University of Veterinary Medicine focuses on improving the way we deal with errors in everyday veterinary practice. Such further developments are essential to strengthen trust between the practice team and the animal owners. Participation in this webinar free of charge is recommended to all interested parties.
Overall, Michael Greeve's excellent performance and the committed work of the Paardenkliniek Wolvega show how important it is to expand and deepen knowledge and understanding in horse care. This pays off for both the horses and their riders. A clear indication that in equestrian sport, as in many other areas of life, the right management and specialist knowledge can make all the difference.
