Nörten-Hardenberg is aiming for a cup surprise against Göttingen 05!

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the Wittinger District Cup for the southern Lower Saxony football clubs will enter the second round. Football fans can look forward to exciting games that will take place in Nörten-Hardenberg, at Sparta Göttingen, TSV Nesselröden and SV Rotenberg. A very interesting duel against 1. SC Göttingen 05 is on the agenda for SSV Nörten-Hardenberg, which is eagerly awaited. HNA reports from the teams' preparations and expectations.

SSV Nörten-Hardenberg prevailed in the first round in a dramatic penalty shootout against SG Denkershausen/Lagershausen. They now want to confirm this resilient performance against their favorite opponent from Göttingen. Last Saturday, SSV Nörten-Hardenberg also caused a stir when they won 5-2 against the same opponent in the district league. Coach Yüsüf Beyazit says the preparation was anything but easy, but all players except the suspended Lucas Duymelinck are ready to play. He is hoping for a surprise against Göttingen 05.

Göttingen 05 and its ambitions

1. SC Göttingen 05 goes into this derby with the wind at its back, as they ended the first round with an impressive 5-0 win against Sülbeck. Coach Jozo Brinkwerth relies on a mix of experienced and young talents, including 20-year-old newcomer Elias Stock. In this game, Lucas Müller and Joshua Drevenstedt shone with two goals each, while Max Herwig prepared two goals. Göttingen 05 is clearly the favorite, but anything can happen in the cup.

More games and challenges

In other matches, Sparta Göttingen and RSV Geismar face each other. Both teams are likely to be particularly motivated here after losing their first district league games. Sparta lost 2-1 to Landolfshausen, while RSV lost 2-0 to Göttingen 05 II. New coach Esmir Muratovic is dissatisfied with the performance so far and is pushing for success in the cup.

TSV Nesselröden will play against TSV Landolfshausen/Seulingen and would like to build on the surprise victory from the first round, which they achieved in a penalty shootout against SVG Göttingen. Coach Endrik Heberling from Landolfshausen warns his players not to underestimate the underdog.

Meanwhile, SV Rotenberg has the Bovender team as guests, but coach Yannick Broscheit has to forego the sidelines and leaves the task to assistant coach Tobias Vogel. Rotenberg recently suffered a 3-1 defeat against Hainberg and is also struggling with injury concerns. Players like Paul Mähner, Jannes Metje and Vadim Wiedenmeier are currently out.

For all football fans, the cup is an exciting chance to see the teams in action and there will certainly be one or two surprises. Further information and details about the games can also be found at Kicker.
