M'era Luna 2025: An anniversary full of music and magic in Hildesheim!
Last weekend, more precisely on August 9th and 10th, 2025, the Hildesheim-Drispenstedt airfield was transformed into a true mecca for music lovers who paid a visit to the M'era Luna Festival. The festival, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, attracted numerous fans of the black scene and offered an exciting line-up. The event was streamed live by both NDR.de and Arte Concert, significantly expanding the reach of this unique music event. A total of 19 of the 38 performing acts were presented in the streams, reports NDR.de.
The two headliners Subway to Sally and And One provided energetic performances and thrilled the audience. The musical performances ranged from Nordic ritual folk to medieval metal and dark electronica. The first performance of the festival came from Null Positiv, who shone with hard guitar riffs and powerful lyrics. Other well-known bands such as Tanzwut, Faun, Manntra, Corvus Corax and Versengold could also be seen in the streams, which made the festival an impressive experience.
Diverse musical styles and a musical highlight
The M’era Luna Festival offers a diverse range of music genres, ranging from hard rock and new wave to gothic and symphonic metal. The event took place in a relaxed atmosphere, with pleasant temperatures and sunshine, which contributed to the good mood. The program for August 10th was varied and well thought out. The first performances started at 2 p.m. with Beyond Border and followed every quarter of an hour until the evening with highlights such as Blutengel and the Best of Saturday show. If someone was unable to attend one of the days, Arte Concert offered the option to stream the performances with a time delay, as detailed on Clef Pen and Brush.
A festival with history
The M'era Luna is considered one of the largest dark music events in Germany and has taken place annually on the second weekend in August in Hildesheim since it was founded in 2000. The event attracts on average between 20,000 and 25,000 visitors. Many of them arrive via Hanover Airport, while others use road and rail routes. In addition to two stages on which first-class rock and metal acts perform, the festival site also offers camping opportunities for visitors. The festival is organized by the company FKP Scorpio Germany, which attaches great importance to a varied and high-quality design of the event. There is an appealing story behind the festival logo, which is based on an image from the film “A Trip to the Moon” by Georges Méliès. In 2019, the logo received a modern refresh, as can be found on Wikipedia.
After another successful year, the M’era Luna Festival is looking confidently into the future and will certainly continue to attract music fans from all directions next year.
