Successful pageant: Emma Kremer is the new Heath Queen!

On August 24, 2025 the time had finally come: this Heath Blossom Festival its 75th queen was crowned in Amelinghausen. The radiant new representative is 21-year-old Emma Kremer, who even shed tears of joy after beating out six other candidates. Kremer, who is a law student, will now prepare for around 100 representation appointments in the coming months.

The parade, in which Emma took part in one of around 20 floats after her election, attracted thousands of visitors who followed the celebrations with enthusiasm. The festival, which began on August 16, 2025 with the opening event “The Lake is Burning” at Lopausee, included more than 20 different events over the nine-day period. The jury that chose the new queen was made up of up to 20 people, including the previous Heath Queen Nele Rörup as well as representatives from municipalities and clubs.

A festival with tradition

The Heath Blossom Festival has a long tradition and attracts numerous guests from all over Germany every August. The first festivities took place in 1949, with the first Heath Queen being elected in 1950. Since then, the festivities have continued to expand; In 1974 the festival week was extended to nine days. The heather blossom festivals take place annually in Amelinghausen and enjoy great participation. Last year, this tradition was continued with the election of Nele Rörup, who made more than 90 appearances as a business student. After a year, Rörup left the Lüneburg Heath stage with crown and coat, making way for Emma Kremer, who now also acts as the region's ambassador. The most famous queen in recent years was Jenny Elvers, who represented the region 35 years ago.

A look into the future

The upcoming Heath Blossom Festival in Schneverdingen will take place from August 28th to 31st, 2025 and has already been planned with numerous attractions. Here too, the new Heath Queen is elected by the association's board and, as in Amelinghausen, comes to create new highlights and unforgettable experiences.

The celebrations and the election of the Queen are not only an expression of regional pride, they are also a wonderful example of community and togetherness in the Lüneburg Heath.
