On Tuesday afternoon a tragic traffic accident occurred in Colnrade in which a 69-year-old motorcyclist from Twistringen lost his life. The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. on Beckstedter Straße when the motorcyclist entered the oncoming lane in a long right-hand bend and collided head-on with a car driven by a 59-year-old driver, also from Twistringen. Fortunately, the driver was uninjured, but the motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident.
The emergency services, including an ambulance, an emergency doctor and the Christoph 6 rescue helicopter from Bremen, were immediately on site to provide assistance. The road had to be closed until around 7:30 p.m. for rescue work and the accident investigation. According to initial estimates, the material damage caused amounts to around 20,000 euros. The exact reasons for the accident are currently being investigated by the Delmenhorst police.
