Lingen celebrates 1050 years: parade and concerts in the city center!

A special celebration is coming up in Lingen (Ems): On June 22, 2025, the city will be 1,050 years old. Under the motto “Experience 1050 moments in the heart of Lingen”, the city center will be the setting for a colorful event program that has something in store for young and old. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors can immerse themselves in this world of experience and look forward to many highlights. The spectacular event will even be broadcast live noz.de transmitted.

But June 22nd is not the only day of celebration. To celebrate the 1050th anniversary, a three-day festival is being prepared, starting on Friday, June 21st. On these days, the organizers expect around 12,000 guests per festival day. There will be an open-air stage on the market square for around 7,000 people, and the performances will also be broadcast on a large screen at the horse market. The atmosphere promises to be unforgettable thanks to favorable weather conditions and lots of good humor in the city.

A diverse program

The program includes a really large selection of concerts, a festival parade and an ecumenical open-air service. Stars like Münchner Freiheit and Mickie Krause will perform on Friday, while Tim Bendzko and Fury in the Slaughterhouse will be on stage on Saturday. In addition, there will be over 50 live shows on seven different stages. The streets will be closed during the festival to ensure safety and smooth operations.

  • Freitag: Münchner Freiheit, Mickie Krause, Anna-Maria Zimmermann, Nura
  • Samstag: Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Tim Bendzko, Steve ’n‘ Seagulls

In order to meet security aspects, access to the event areas is via a total of four entrances. The number of visitors to the market square is counted using a laser system, and barrier-free toilet facilities and hygiene stands are available. To get there, we recommend coming on foot, by bike or by public transport. There are numerous parking options in the area, with special consideration being given to the use of bicycle parking spaces and free parking for guests with mobility restrictions.

Historical roots and future

The city has a long history, which was first mentioned in writing in 975. Its historical value arises not only from the many buildings and architectural styles that come from different eras, but also from its location on important traffic routes that make crossing the Ems easier. This makes the celebration of the 1050th anniversary both a look back at history and a look forward to the future of the city.

Preparations are in full swing and the organizers hope for an unforgettable anniversary. Visitors can look forward to many moments that will go down in Lingen's history. Further information and a detailed program can be found on the city's official website: lingen.de.
