On Friday, October 24, 2025, a very special celebration took place in Gréasque. The Secours Populaire Français (SPF) celebrated its 80th anniversary in the Salle Raymond Galhuid. For this festive occasion, a diverse program was offered that immersed those present in the eventful history of the organization.
The festivities began at 6 p.m. with a film produced by Duoz Animation about local Secours Populaire actors. There was also a performance by the choir group “Le club de la chanson française”, which enhanced the atmosphere with French songs. The sweet treats were provided by an impressive gibassier, divided into 240 pieces and prepared by Patrick, the baker at Délices du Moulin. Jacki Pierracci, president of the Syndikat d’initiatives and member of the Toques françaises, was an important co-organizer of the celebration.
An eventful story
The roots of the Secours Populaire Français date back to 1945 and the organization has undergone remarkable development since then. As an independent organization, the SPF operates in France through 98 federations and operates a network of 1,300 solidarity and health contact points. With around 90,000 committed volunteers, the SPF offers needs-based help in cities, villages and universities.
The evening event not only offered a look into the past, but was also a sign of the solidarity and community spirit that the SPF has conveyed over the last eight decades. A special highlight of the evening was the gift of a vitral from Gérard Teissier, which was intended to symbolize peace with the title “La Colombe de la Paix”. This gesture was a nice addition to the various festivities and celebratory atmosphere of the night.
Together into the future
Many residents of the region, local elected officials and representatives from neighboring municipalities were also present at the anniversary celebration, working together to promote the association's goals. The members' commitment is evidence of the Secours Populaire's goals: supporting those in need and promoting social cohesion.
The celebrations are an important impulse to continue providing help in the future and to continue the association's flagship projects. The event ended with a warm call to everyone to join the SPF and take an active part in shaping it. This is how the foundation stone was laid so that the next 80 years of the Secours Populaire can be filled with just as much commitment and passion.
