In recent years, the region around Helmstedt has developed into a popular destination for metal and music lovers. The “HelmFest”, which takes place from July 31st to August 2nd, 2025, shows how diverse the metal scene in Germany is. This year, however, the festival was relocated at short notice from Reinsdorf to Büddenstedt, behind substation II, because the wheat in the original field was not yet ripe. The atmosphere at HelmFest couldn't be better. In contrast to the large festivals such as “Wacken Open-Air”, visitors found a well-organized event. “There was no chaos, no mud and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and familiar,” said one reporter. Another highlight was the raffle of a 1975 Harley Davidson, which the winner Britta was able to take home. Such surprises make the festival a very special experience.
When it comes to accommodation for visitors, the festival leaves nothing to be desired: whether in a car, in a horse trailer or in lovingly designed mini-villages, everything was possible. The big meeting will be enriched by bands such as WARKINGS, LETZTE INSTANZ and MANNTRA, among others. These mosaic pieces of entertainment are complemented by show and walking acts as well as exciting competitions such as a lightsaber championship. In the evening, visitors can expect an impressive fire show, which brings the festival to a fitting close.
