Volksbank Schaumburg and Nienburg is celebrating a record year in 2024!
At this year's representative meeting of the Volksbank in Schaumburg and Nienburg on Monday in Rinteln, where around 260 representatives and guests from business and politics came together, we looked back on a consistently positive 2024 financial year. Rinteln currently reports that Joachim Schorling, board member and keynote speaker at the meeting, presented the bank's positive results. The balance sheet total climbed from 4.9 billion euros to 5.1 billion euros, which corresponds to a whopping increase of 5%.
In a comprehensive review, Schorling also described how the Volksbank has exceeded the average development of the Volksbanks in Germany. Despite economic hurdles such as an economic downturn and rising energy prices, the bank was able to generate a loan volume of 3.9 billion euros, an increase of 8%. In addition, equity grew by 46 million euros to a total of 511 million euros.
Social responsibility and commitment
Another highlight of the meeting was the Volksbank's social commitment. Over 500 projects were supported with more than 548,000 euros. This illustrates the bank's responsibility in the region. Schorling particularly praised the upcoming events such as the 1,000th anniversary celebrations in Nienburg and the State Garden Show 2026, where the bank is also a supporter.
The good balance sheet is not only characterized by numbers, but also by recognition: Volksbank received 13 awards from Focus Money for excellent customer service. This includes not only customer friendliness, but also innovative approaches, as shown by board member Markus Strahler's speech at the New Year's reception. He demonstrated the combination of technology and personal approach by beginning his opening speech with an AI-generated text.
Digitalization as an opportunity
In this context, the importance of digitalization is becoming increasingly noticeable, especially through generative artificial intelligence. Loud BVR This technology can stimulate economic growth in the long term and is seen as the key to overcoming the current stagnation trap. Experts emphasize that widespread use of generative AI in companies is necessary to fully benefit from the advantages of this technology.
Volksbank itself is sending positive signals by appointing another board member, Christian Weiß, from July 1, 2025, which sets the course for future-oriented management structures. However, the bank also plans to close the Bad Eilsen branch in mid-July and dismantle eight ATMs, which raises questions about regional availability.
In summary, it shows that the Volksbank in Schaumburg and Nienburg not only focuses on financial success, but also on social responsibility and innovation. By strengthening its business figures and taking a clear look into the digital future, the bank represents an important pillar of the regional economy.
