Rock night in Holdenstedt: Over 500 celebrated fans at the open air!

On August 11, 2025 there was a very special atmosphere in Holdenstedt. Around 500 music enthusiasts flocked to the open air “Rock im Rothen”, which was organized by the Pro Holdenstedt interest group. In wonderful summer weather, visitors were able to experience musical fireworks that accompanied them until late into the night.

The main attraction of the evening was the Uelzen band “Heart Rock Café”, which took their fans into the night without a supporting act. Bandleader Ralf Nyenhuis and his talented crew, consisting of singers Jennifer Freitag and Imanthi Gräflich Monard as well as instrumentalists Yannek Nyenhuis (drums), Nicolas Kukolja (keyboards), Wolfgang Lischnewski (bass) and Johannes Zimmermann (guitar), really heated up the audience. The opening song “I want it all” by Queen immediately set an example for the rock sounds to come. Classics like “Livin’ on a prayer” and “Simply the Best” also made fans’ hearts beat faster.

From tentative beginnings to partying into the night

At first the mood in the audience was a bit reserved, but that quickly changed. The place soon filled with people cheering and dancing, while DJ Malte Pöggel provided the necessary entertainment with rock and pop classics in the breaks between performances. “The mood just kept getting better,” said Thorsten Siems, chairman of Pro Holdenstedt, in his acceptance speech about the excellent response and thanked the many volunteers and supporters without whom this event would not have been possible.

The visitors' food was also not neglected: their physical well-being was taken care of at the drinks stands and at the barbecue hut, where delicious baked potatoes were available. The open air ended with exuberant dancing until late at night, which shows that the people of Cologne are passionate about music events like this.

A place in the heart of the Cologne music scene

Music festivals are not only highlights for the local community, they also help enrich cultural life in the region. Thematically they are often mixed and range from rock to pop to electronic music. For example, that counts Happiness Festival to the biggest music events in Germany. In 2023 it attracted around 130,000 visitors and is becoming increasingly popular. So if you're looking for a reason for the next festival in Cologne, you're definitely in the right place with a visit to “Heart Rock Café”!
