Bus transport in the Verden district: New lines, better service!

Bus transport in the Verden district remains a hot topic that is always a topic of conversation. After numerous delays and cancellations, things are now getting exciting again, because the transport committee will meet on November 3, 2023 and will deal with the new route. The Verdener Verkehrsgesellschaft (VVG) has already made some changes since August 2023 and, among other things, took over bus routes 704, 726 and 760. These adjustments led to an additional annual load of 250,000 kilometers. Weser Kurier reports that everything went smoothly, which is also due to the positive cooperation with the Vonau/Masemann transport company.

But now, there are also changes that bring a breath of fresh air. The subcontractor has terminated his contract and now VVG will take the affected trips into its own hands. The aim of these measures is quite clear: to improve the service situation for passengers. The focus is particularly on lines 760 (Verden–Ottersberg–Fischerhude), 725 (Verden–Walle–Kirchlinteln–Holtum–Süderwalsede) and lines 713 and 715 (Verden–Verdenermoor and Verden–Weitzenmühlen).

New articulated buses and adjustments

A special highlight will be the introduction of new articulated buses on lines 713 and 715. In the future, these will replace two previously separate journeys and thus improve the service for commuters. The departure times in the morning hours are also getting a small update: they will only be postponed by a few minutes, which could be a real advantage for many commuters.

A clever move is converting empty trips into regular timetables on line 760. This attractive measure is intended to significantly expand the range of local public transport options. In addition, line 725 will be expanded to make it more interesting for commuters and to better develop the Weserstrasse commercial area.

The goal: better accessibility for everyone

The core of these restructurings is more than just timetables and buses, it's about fundamentally improving accessibility. Such steps are indispensable, especially in rural areas where local public transport is often perceived as inadequate. Those responsible rely on a good hand to optimize mobility for all citizens in the Verden district. With the upcoming consultations and the measures that have already been introduced, nothing stands in the way of positive change in bus transport.
