Autumn hunting in Verden: Riders and foxhounds delight thousands!

The Verden Autumn Hunt – an event that delights horse lovers and nature lovers alike. Over 100 riders gathered at the Holzmarkt to take part in this impressive event organized by the Verdener Drag Hunt Riding Club (VSJRV). The hunt exceeded the expectations of the organizers, who had hoped for many participants. The hunt leads through the picturesque Verden old town and the surrounding forest areas, over a distance of around 15 kilometers to the “Eitzer Knie” in Ahnebergen and back, and takes less than three hours. Weser courier reported.

The riders were accompanied by almost 50 foxhounds, who were here for the first time from two packs, the Lower Saxony pack from Dorfmark and the Cappenberger pack from Werne. Such cooperation is rare and brings a breath of fresh air to the old tradition of hunting. For the hunt itself, the scope of the huntsmen, who led the riders in four different fields, was crucial.

Celebration after successful completion

After the hunt there was a big celebration. The participants were able to relax with a meal together at the Hotel Niedersachsenhof before the club's big anniversary came to a celebratory conclusion with a ball. There were four times as many guests as riders here - a sign of the popularity of the event and an expression of the solidarity within the community. Deputy Mayor Anja König and other city representatives praised the traditionally strong performance of the VSJRV, which was founded in 1925.

The club began its history in the casino of the former cavalry barracks on Holzmarkt and has since developed into an important part of regional sporting life. Hunting is not only a fascinating sport that revolves around the joy of riding and jumping in nature, it is also an event that is deeply rooted in regional culture. Lower Saxony pack describes the long tradition of hunting, which dates back to 1381. This special relationship between humans and animals is a central element of the event.

A look back

Kreiszeitung berichtete zudem, dass eine der Reiterinnen ihren Junggesellinnen-Abschied – inklusive Brautschleier an der Reitkappe – auf diesem besonderen Weg feierte.

The Verden autumn hunt has once again proven that this tradition not only promotes riding, but also a sense of community among horse lovers. The combination of sporting ambition and social gatherings makes the event a highlight in the region's event calendar.
