Kolpinghausstiftung supports projects for those in need in Mozambique!

The Kolping House Foundation of the Kolping Family Borken supported an important project in Mozambique with a generous donation of 1,000 euros. This project is led by the committed nun Maria Ignatia Langela, who originally comes from Weseke. As the Borken newspaper reports, the donations will be used to build simple, small houses for needy families and sick people. A local Christian takes care of the construction work and ensures that the financial resources are used responsibly.

The ceremonial moment of handing over the check took place during a Kolping seniors’ afternoon in the chapter house. Maria Ignatia Langela took the opportunity to report on her life in the community of the “Sisters of St. Mary Magdalene Postel”. The nun, born in 1945, entered the order after graduating from high school and studied mathematics and physics to become a teacher in Münster from 1966 to 1970. She then worked as a high school teacher for many years, including as deputy head of the Engelsburg High School in Kassel.

Creative engagement in Bestwig

However, Maria Ignatia Langela has not only shaped a career in education. Since her retirement in 2010, she has lived in the Bestwig mountain monastery and is active there as an educational consultant. In this context, she published a book entitled “Embraced by Infinite Life”, which accompanies 50 of her own works of art. In recent years she has worked intensively with painting and sculpture.

The Cathedral magazine describes that the images in her book, together with inspiring texts from well-known artists, writers and theologians, represent an invitation to readers to reflect on their own lives. Using ecological materials, including ash and old coffee grounds, she creates works that also reflect the themes of faith, science and education. The titles of her works speak of hope and courage, such as “Nevertheless” or “Just Courage!”, and encourage viewers to tackle their own projects courageously.

Education projects in Mozambique

Maria Ignatia is not only an artist, but also an advocate for education. In connection with the aid project in Mozambique, school education for young people is viewed as essential. Loud Participamoz Every donation of 100 francs can ensure access to school education and graduation for young people. There are currently difficulties: many young people have problems going to school regularly due to financial constraints and difficult accessibility. Support is therefore urgently needed, especially until the new school building is completed. These challenges show how important it is that projects like the one in Mozambique continue to be supported.

Maria Ignatia Langela's commitment and the support from the Kolpinghaus Foundation have had a positive influence in the best possible way, not only in her homeland but also internationally. It remains to be hoped that many more people can benefit from this help.
