Christian Düren reveals: This is how the tough moderator lives privately!
Christian Düren, known as a presenter from the lifestyle magazine “taff”, has established himself as a fixture in the German media landscape. He is currently responsible for media training at the popular casting show “Germany’s Next Top Model”, where he prepares the young models to deal with journalists. In the seventh episode of this year's season there is an exciting interview training in which Düren works with the young talents and gives them valuable tips on how to deal with the press [Joyn].
Düren has been presenting “taff” for eight years and has had a remarkable journalistic career. His roots lie in Rhineland-Palatinate, where after graduating from high school he studied journalism with a focus on sports at the Macromedia Academy in Cologne. Düren gained experience as a freelancer for the political talk show “hart aber fair” and worked in various roles at Meta Productions before moving to “taff” in 2017 and hosting with colleagues such as Viviane Geppert, Rebecca Mir and Annemarie Carpendale.
Challenges in interview training
In the upcoming episode, which will be broadcast on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben (repeated on Friday on sixx), the models are dressed in typical 80s outfits - a challenge that is not only fashionable but also communicative. As Düren asks questions, it becomes clear how differently the participants react to them. Alysha has difficulty speaking and even cries when confronted with unpleasant questions, while others like Romina celebrate the colorful outfits. Heidi Klum emphasizes the importance of being prepared in public, as the press particularly pounces on models the more famous they become, as ProSieben describes.
These dynamics reflect the challenges young people face today, especially when it comes to media and its influence on their identities. A study shows that the majority of young people in Germany are active users of social media, which is also reflected in Düren's conversations with the models. The fear of negative headlines and public judgment is omnipresent.
A look into private life
Despite his presence in the media, Christian Düren keeps his private life largely out of the public eye. He describes his social media presence as a “pure business account” in order to remain authentic. However, last year he was seen in public with designer Amira Aly at Berlin Fashion Week, who revealed in an interview that the two were making plans for a dream home together.
With his journalistic experience and sensitivity to the needs of young models, Düren is well positioned to support them in a reserved but effective manner. His approach is also reflected in the changing media environment that surrounds young people today, where access to information and use of social media play an important role. A study has shown that 95% of young people use the Internet every day to find orientation and social connections - aspects that are also important for models when they present themselves in public.
