A3 closure near Duisburg: Ten days of chaos for commuters! This is how you stay informed!

A veritable traffic chaos is looming: from November 7th at 9 p.m. until November 17th at 5 a.m. the A3 near Duisburg will be completely closed. The section between the Oberhausen-West motorway junction and the Breitscheid motorway junction is closed in both directions. The reason for the extensive closure is the dismantling of connecting bridges from the A3 in the direction of Cologne to the A40 in the direction of Essen and Venlo. This will modernize the infrastructure that has existed since the 1960s, reports 24Rhine.

Commuters should prepare well for the diversions and signposted detours that will be put in place. Extensive expansion work is also planned, which includes additional lanes, new bridges and ramps as well as modern noise protection. These renovations aim to improve the traffic situation on this busy route.

Another traffic jam threatens

The A59 between Düsseldorf and Monheim will also be completely closed for eight months in order to carry out urgent repair work. In addition, the A40 near Duisburg is affected by the closure because old bridge demolition work is pending here. This could lead to massive traffic congestion in the region resulting from these simultaneous works.

The situation is further complicated by the restrictions at Kreuz Kaiserberg that have been in place since October 29th. Several connecting ramps of this important node are closed until mid-2027.
