Donation record at the AVU TippKick tournament: 20,000 euros for good causes!
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, AVU's eagerly awaited annual TippKick tournament took place in the Ennepe-Ruhr district at the company's own venue in Gevelsberg. Representatives from nine cities in the district showed once again that this event is much more than just a game. In addition to the sporting competition, the football is also for a good cause, as the participants play for various social institutions.
Moderator Friedhelm Susok led the tournament. What was particularly pleasing was the return of the team from Breckerfeld, consisting of Mayor André Dahlhaus and Jürgen Niehaus, who stood up for the Breckerfeld youth fire department. Last year's winner Schwelm also caused a stir, whose mayor Stephan Langhard missed the hat trick this time after two consecutive titles. Nevertheless, they shone in the game for third place by scoring 8 out of 12 goals.
An unexpected winner
The highlight of the day was the exciting finale, in which the team from Hattingen demonstrated its strength. The team, led by mayor Dirk Glaser and Georg Hartmann, prevailed against the weather with a narrow 4:3. In total, an incredible 130 goals were scored that day, which brought in a remarkable donation of 20,000 euros - a reason for celebration for everyone involved.
The proceeds go to a number of organizations that are involved in child and youth welfare. Among the donation recipients are the EN district youth fire department and the Breckerfeld youth fire department. In addition, the support association of the Ennepetal music school, Wasserfreunde Gevelsberg, support associations of the Erik Nölting School and the Heggerfeld special school in Hattingen as well as the school and learning assistance from the Schwelm Child Protection Association also benefit. Herdecke and Sprockhövel decided to pass on their donations to the German Child Protection Association, while Witten donated to the Ruhr Area Children's Hospice and the German Child Protection Association.
An event that inspires
The TippKick tournament has established itself as a solid tradition in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in recent years. The positive response shows that these events are anything but outdated, as the EN-Agentur underlines. The tournament is not only a platform for sporting ambition, but also for social commitment and a sense of community.
Since it was first held, the series of TippKick tournaments has generated a remarkable total of almost 170,000 euros in donations. Uwe Träris, AVU board member, announced that the tournaments will continue next year. This means that the TippKick tournament remains a crazy event and an integral part of social life in the Ennepe-Ruhr district.
