Excitement about the Block family: Court appoints daughter as co-plaintiff!

A highly explosive trial is causing a lot of discussion in the Hamburg justice scene: On July 11, 2025, the criminal trial began against the entrepreneur Christina Block, who is accused of having ordered the kidnapping of her own children. The situation is particularly sensitive because the father of the two children, Stephan Hensel, is a co-plaintiff and is himself on trial for kidnapping minors. In the summer of 2021, he did not return the children to their mother after a visit to Denmark, which has already led to several legal disputes. The Hamburg regional court has now revoked the admission of the 14-year-old daughter as a co-plaintiff in order to clarify potential conflicts of interest, as Radio Euskirchen reported.

In addition, it will have to be discussed whether the daughter can even take part as a co-plaintiff. The legal framework is anything but simple, as Danish law could also be taken into account. Ultimately, the children live with their father in Denmark. The Higher Regional Court had already made an emergency decision revoking the son's admission as a co-plaintiff after the mother's defense lodged a complaint. While the trial continues, several defense attorneys are planning a stay of the proceedings, the decision of which will be announced next Friday.

Complex family relationships

The charges against Christina Block relate to the unusual events around New Year's Eve 2023/24, when the children were forcibly taken to Germany by their father. A witness who remained anonymous reported that several men attacked the father and children and forced them into a car tied with tape. These serious allegations are all the more explosive because Christina and Stephan are not only divorced, but also have four children together. Since their separation in 2014, the children initially lived with their mother until the eldest daughter moved to Denmark with her father in 2021 by agreement with her mother

The situation escalated further when the two youngest children no longer wanted to return to their mother after a visit in August 2021. The father subsequently claimed that the mother was behaving in a way that was endangering the child's welfare. In 2021, Christina Block finally received the sole right of residence for the two younger children. However, enforcing this decision proved difficult as Denmark does not automatically recognize custody decisions made by other EU states. A corresponding attempt by Christina to have her children repatriated through a Danish family court failed in February 2023.

Legal entanglements

In addition to the complicated legal situation, Christina Block also fought the ruling of a Danish court in 2023, which granted sole custody to the father and deprived the mother of access rights. An attempt to clarify this situation through the German family courts also failed because the judges no longer considered themselves responsible; The children live well in Denmark, and that has a significant impact on the legal situation. The Federal Constitutional Court recently rejected a constitutional complaint from Christina Block, which further complicates the matter, according to Rose Partner.

Christina Block and her partner Gerhard Delling as well as five other suspects deny all allegations. While the trial proceedings continue and the situation continues to escalate, the case clearly shows how complex the challenges of international child abduction can be. The legal entanglements in this case could make it difficult for those affected to find a solution that is in the best interests of the child. A process that raises more questions than answers and in which the next few days could be decisive.
