Duisburger Oldies Siegen at the referee tournament in Warburg!
On October 7, 2025, there will once again be a sporting spectacle in the triple-use gym in Warburg. Fans of the round leather can look forward to the traditional referee tournament in which teams from the region compete against each other. The Duisburg Oldies team, which has been taking part in this great event continuously since 1985, secured first place this year. A personal record that is worth celebrating! Westfalen-Blatt reports that in addition to the Duisburg team, there were also teams from Unna-Hamm, Hanover, Paderborn, the Bördeland referee fans as well as the Höxter teams I and II, Münster and Soest.
The atmosphere at this event is always special: referees, who often whistle even in the highest amateur classes, not only show their football skills, but are also a sign of cohesion and camaraderie within the referee in Germany. A nice occasion where you can exchange ideas and celebrate the fun of football.
Sporting diversity in Warburg
But great things are being achieved in Warburg not only in football. Soon, more precisely on July 13, 2025, a class L* dressage test will be held, in which 17 top-class participants will demonstrate their riding skills. This event, which is also a popular tradition, is overseen by judges Herbert Köster and Susanne Zander. Equi score has published the list of participants, in which there are also some particularly remarkable horses such as "Amazing Star" and "Carlos".
Riders and horses come from a wide variety of clubs, from RV Altenautal to the St. Marti riding and vaulting club, which underlines the versatility and breadth of equestrian sports in the region. Events of this kind bring together not only professionals, but also amateur riders who share their passion for equestrian sports.
It is clear: Warburg is a hotspot for sporting activities and community events that serve both the competition and the exchange. Whether in football or while riding - there are enough opportunities to let off steam on the square and in the saddle. Municipal events like this are not only important for the participants, but also bring the audience together and strengthen the feeling of sports in the region.
