What a matchday on the handball stage! TBV Lemgo Lippe and ThSV Eisenach met on November 21, 2025, and while the hosts had the upper hand, the guests from Eisenach struggled with numerous challenges. In the end, the Lemgoers won the duel with 28:19 (13:9) and climbed to third place in the handball Bundesliga.
The game got off to a slow start for TBV, who were only able to score one goal in the first seven minutes (1:2). But after a balanced first quarter of an hour, which was characterized by impressive goalkeeper saves, Lemgo broke away and led by two goals for the first time after 25 minutes (10:8). A remarkable 5-1 run before half-time made the score 13-9 at half-time and brought more self-confidence to the hosts' ranks.
A clear victory and remarkable statistics
In the second half, the TBV left nothing to be desired: with a furious 7-1 run at the start, the Lemgoers quickly led 20-10 (41st minute). The rest of the game was a demonstration of their own strength, and coach Florian Kehrmann's team controlled the action on the field. The best goalscorer of the evening was Niels Versteijnen, who netted six times. In defense, goalkeeper Constantin Möstl shone with nine saves, which underlined the team's good defensive work.
The statistics impressively show where the differences were: ThSV Eisenach made 16 technical errors, while the Lemgo team only made seven mistakes. In addition, the guests only had a throw rate of 54% compared to the TBV's 67%. It was the sixth away defeat of the season for the Eisenachers, and after the disappointing performances in attack the criticism became louder. Backcourt player Stephan Seitz spoke of a poor performance, and captain Peter Walz also criticized the use of opportunities.
