Werder Bremen U23 celebrates 5-1 win over Gladbach despite Neuhaus goal!

The U23 of SV Werder Bremen successfully played their fourth test match in summer preparation and defeated the U23 of Borussia Mönchengladbach 5-1. In the game that took place in Vörden, coach Christian Brand's team was under pressure to score their first points after two previous defeats against Borussia Dortmund's U23 (0:3) and Sportfreunde Lotte (2:3). With a strong performance, Werder Bremen was finally able to claim a clear victory, while the Gladbach U23s once again had to hope for the support of Florian Neuhaus, who was transferred to the regional league team due to a penalty.

Werder player Princewell Mbock was the man of the game with three goals. He gave Bremen the lead in the 6th minute before Neuhaus equalized for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 41st minute. Christian Stark ensured that Werder Bremen took the lead again shortly afterwards in the 42nd minute. In the second half, Mbock was there again and scored his goals in the 60th and 64th minutes. The last goal for Bremen came from captain Cimo Röcker, who scored in the 75th minute. Although Mönchengladbach's U23 lost again, Neuhaus impressed with his team's only goal and showed that he wants to play a central role despite the reorganization in the U23.

Florian Neuhaus: Looking for compensation

Neuhaus, who once caused a sensation as a national player, has to temporarily train with the U23 after an incident in connection with a Mallorca video. This penalty includes exclusion from professional training and a hefty fine. Despite the setbacks, Neuhaus shows a positive attitude. He wants to fulfill his contract, which runs until 2027, and recommend himself for a return to the professional team. He was well integrated into the training camp in Ankum, Lower Saxony, and scored two goals in the first friendly, which Gladbach won 16-0 against district league team SV Quitt Ankum. But he was denied great success against Werder Bremen.

Neuhaus himself has not yet commented on his changing situation and the criticism he has received. According to Gladbach's CEO Stefan Stegemann, after the punishment there will be discussions about Neuhaus' future role in the club. Opinions among fans are divided: 45 percent want the midfielder to return, while 44 percent are in favor of a separation.

What's next?

The next friendly match for Borussia Mönchengladbach's U23s is next Saturday against Dutch club FC Den Bosch. At the moment, coach Eugen Polanski's team is still looking for form and stability, while Neuhaus wants to continue to do everything he can to become indispensable for the regional league team. The next challenge for Werder Bremen is on Sunday against third division club VfL Osnabrück, where the team can prove itself again.

The demands in both camps are high, and the upcoming games represent an important opportunity to gain the necessary self-confidence for the coming season.
