A touch of Hollywood will soon be blowing in Oberhausen! On October 28, 2025, the highly anticipated musical “Pretty Woman” will celebrate its German premiere at the Metronom Theater. The play is based on the popular romantic comedy from the 90s, which delighted many cinema fans. It's not for nothing that the film achieved cult status and made Julia Roberts and Richard Gere global stars. Now the magical story of Vivian Ward, a prostitute, and wealthy businessman Edward Lewis is brought to the big stage. After Oberhausen we then go to Munich, where the musical returns in February 2026.

The focus of the production is the fascinating duo: Mathias Edenborn plays the elegant Edward, while Shanna Slaap takes on the role of Vivian. Edenborn wants to show the two faces of his character - the successful manager and his inner insecurity when it comes to feelings. The passionate actor was inspired by Richard Gere during his preparation and emphasized that he wanted to play the character without ego. Shanna Slaap, on the other hand, is no stranger to the role of Vivian, as she has already enjoyed success in the Netherlands and wants to portray Vivian's golden heart and personality in an impressive way. Over the course of the story, she changes from seductive black patent boots to an iconic red dress that represents glamor and transformation. This iconic scene is sure to give viewers goosebumps.

A timeless fairy tale

Benjamin Plautz does his best in the role of the villain Philip Stuckey and highlights Vivian's emancipation. He describes the musical as a timeless, modern fairy tale in which the message of love and freedom is clearly in the foreground. Rehearsals are already underway intensively and the stage preparations with make-up and wigs require great care. Viewers can look forward to a world full of glitz and glamor, accompanied by the catchy music by Bryan Adams, which guarantees emotional highlights.
