Complete closure in Elsen: Gesselner Straße affected until the end of August!
From Tuesday, July 8th, the focus will be on Gesselner Straße in Paderborn-Elser. On this day, the full closure lasting several weeks begins in the junction area with Von-Ketteler-Straße. According to the report by NW.de This is necessary in order to carry out extensive construction work, which primarily serves to improve traffic safety.
What can residents and road users expect during this time? The diversion for pedestrians and cyclists will be widely signposted, and Von-Ketteler-Straße will be partially closed at the junction. Traffic flow and congestion are regulated by construction site traffic lights. Backlogs are to be expected during busy times, so a bypass is strongly recommended.
Detours and bus services
Paderborn local transport (NPH) buses will be rerouted and take alternative routes via Karl-Arnold-Straße and Elser Heide before reaching Sander Straße. No-parking zones were set up on both sides of the rerouted streets for buses so as not to make traffic any more difficult.
The construction work, which was originally planned for spring, was postponed due to a village festival. The work is now being carried out in two phases. In the first section, the agenda includes the renewal of the curbs and the roadway gutter as well as the construction of a traffic island on Von-Ketteler-Straße. The second section deals with curb renewal and the installation of additional traffic islands on the sports field side.
Road safety and infrastructure
A key aspect of this construction work is improving crossing aids for cyclists and pedestrians. Two traffic islands will be built on Gesselner Straße and Von-Ketteler-Straße as crossing aids. In addition, the cycle paths will be brought to road level and paved with asphalt. These measures are part of a comprehensive plan to improve road safety in the region.
Intelligent traffic management, as already implemented in other regions, is crucial to optimizing the performance and safety of our roads. Future projects should also focus on digitally connecting means of transport in order to provide even better information on the traffic situation stmb.bayern.de highlights.
The construction work on Gesselner Straße is expected to last until the end of August. Residents and road users are asked to adapt to the changed conditions and to follow the signposted detours to avoid possible traffic jams.
