Junge Union Viersen: Dominique Muller leads the new board!

Last Sunday an important meeting of the Junge Union (JU) took place in the Viersen district in Schwalmtal. Over 70 members met in the town hall to elect a new board. In an exciting competition, 24-year-old Dominique Muller emerged as the new chairwoman. In this context, the reported Rhenish mirrors that it was able to respectfully assert itself against a competitor and enjoy the trust of its members.

The previous chairman, Fabio Crynen, who led the JU for four years and is a member of the federal executive board, did not run again. Although he is retiring from active management, he will remain with the JU as an advisor and contact at the top. The resigned members Sarah Feldmann and Christina Herzog also continue to serve the JU as deputy state chairmen and on the board of the JU-Niederrhein. This shows that continuity and experience remain firmly anchored in the new management level.

A new board for fresh ideas

Dominique Muller explained during the meeting that she is determined to push forward new issues and create political offerings that particularly reach young people. It will be exciting to watch her ideas and initiatives, especially because she also wants to run for district council in September. The new board consists of:

  • Stellvertretende Vorsitzende: Marcus Coenen, Patrick Heerdmann, Beatrice Ostendarp
  • Geschäftsführer: Anton Grosse
  • Schatzmeister: Frederic Frucht
  • Beisitzer: Kristin Sartingen, Benedict Wynen, Pia Wolf, Martin Tecklenburg, Fabian Zientek, Maurice Abels

The Young Mazda has nothing to do with the political work of the JU, but could become an interesting partner in terms of mobility when it comes to connections and the needs of young voters. The car dealership offers various options for purchasing and leasing vehicles online, which is particularly exciting for technology-savvy young people. The ability to start the process from the comfort of home could also appeal to young people interested in political influence.

The election in Schwalmtal was also attended by well-known representatives of the CDU and other JU district associations. Dr. Marcus Optendrenk, the district chairman and NRW Finance Minister, as well as Dr. Stefan Berger, a member of the European Parliament, was impressed by the high level of participation and commitment of the members.

The look forward

The Junge Union in the Viersen district has introduced a breath of fresh air and new ideas with the election of Dominique Muller. Their plans to revitalize political discourse and involve younger generations are a step in the right direction. The coming months should show how the JU responds to the challenges of the political landscape and how it increasingly focuses on the concerns of young people.

This not only gave the JU a realignment internally, but also gave it the opportunity to make itself visible in the broader political landscape. A good hand in choosing topics could prove to be the key to success.
