Welcome to the team: AWO Wesel celebrates new employees with a party!
On June 21, 2025, a very special introductory event took place in the Wesel district association, which was intended as a warm welcome party for six new employees. This tradition has now been continued for the eighth year and shows how important it is for the AWO to bring a breath of fresh air into its own ranks. A festive setting and a relaxed atmosphere ensured that the new colleagues felt well integrated right from the start, even if some were unable to take part this time due to vacation or illness. Those present not only had snacks and drinks, which were provided in the canteen of the AWO office, but also informative insights into the various areas and fields of activity of the district association, as lokalklick.eu reported.
Thomas Evers from the association development was also on site and gave an exciting introduction to the AWO and the Wesel district association. The event revolved around central topics such as the values and guiding principles of the AWO, the impressive founding story, and the structure of the district association with its specialist areas and departments. The use of Microsoft (Office) 365 and subject-specific programs were also discussed. The tasks of control support and quality management were also not neglected. The presentation of the works council rounded off the informative program, while the welcome event also offered space for social gatherings and personal exchanges. The board members were introduced, which made it even easier to get to know each other, as lokalkompass.de adds.
A look into the history of the AWO
The Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) looks back on almost a hundred years of history, which began in 1919 when it was founded by Marie Juchacz. The association is one of the oldest welfare associations in Germany and has experienced many ups and downs since then. The participation of workers in welfare services was already encouraged in the Weimar Republic. The AWO has always managed to adapt to changing social conditions and is still committed to social justice and the well-being of the community. These roots made the introductory event all the more meaningful because they are directly related to the mission of the AWO, as detailed in awo-100-histories.de.
By regularly holding such welcome events, we not only promote the loyalty of new employees to the association, but also raise awareness of the important values that have shaped the AWO since its founding. The social gathering strengthens team spirit and community, which is crucial in such a large organization. The AWO Wesel district association therefore wishes all new colleagues a smooth and successful start to their professional lives and would like to support them with advice and support in the coming weeks and months.
