VfL Bad Kreuznach: Fighting in the top league despite defeat!
After the start of the season, VfL Bad Kreuznach is still looking for the right rhythm in the league. After the start with three challenging games - two of which were against real heavyweights - the results have not been rosy so far. In the third match, Bad Kreuznach were defeated by Baskets Trier 52:85, which became clear early in the game when the halftime score was 24:42. Despite the three defeats, the mood in the team is by no means dampened. The team's interaction is viewed as promising and the coaches are optimistic that the young talents will soon blossom. The fact that the defeats came against strong opponents is not seen as worrying, as rhein-zeitung.de reports.
Now for VfL Bad Kreuznach it's about stabilizing the team and learning from previous experiences. Department head Sven Koller is confident. “We have a young team that has enormous potential,” he says. Particular attention is paid to the upcoming training sessions and games, where every minute is used to improve technique and cohesion. This is how all age groups train in the Dr. Martin Luther King School and in the Lina Hilger High School, where many talented players gather.
Training for all age groups
A look at the training times shows the club's commitment. The little basketball players of the U6 mix train on Saturday mornings, followed by the U8, U10 and U12 mix, all of whom also hold their units on this school day. The division can be summarized as follows:
- U6 mix: Samstag, 08:30 – 10:00 Uhr, Dr. Martin-Luther-King-Schule
- U8 mix: Samstag, 10:00 – 11:30 Uhr, Dr. Martin-Luther-King-Schule
- U10 mix: Samstag, 11:30 – 13:00 Uhr, Dr. Martin-Luther-King-Schule
- U12 mix: Montag und Donnerstag, 17:00 – 18:30 Uhr
- U14 männlich: Mittwoch, 17:00 – 18:30 Uhr, Freitag, 15:00 – 16:30 Uhr
The offers for older age groups are particularly exciting. In the youth department, particular emphasis is placed on ball skills and teamwork, which means that the players not only get better, but also have a lot of fun playing the game. Trainers like Markus Hager and Goswin Stumm are available for the female and male teams and help them learn the necessary tools.
A club with a future
The training times for men and women are also well attended. Here the basics are maintained and at the same time the tactical finesse is refined in order to finally score the first points of the season. For men, the sessions take place on Tuesday and Thursday, while the women are active on Mondays and Wednesdays.
“There is something going on, we all feel it,” was the unanimous opinion. Despite the defeats, the focus remains on the future. A good hand in squad planning and future games will show whether VfL Bad Kreuznach can soon develop its strength. Fans and players agree: the season has just begun and it remains exciting.
