Rettichfest light: A complete success with free beer and live music!

The Radish festival “light” has once again developed into a real attraction in Schifferstadt this year. Last weekend the event took place for the third time around the forest festival hall and in the adjacent parking lot. In bright sunshine, large numbers of guests enjoyed a colorful program. The opening was celebrated by Schifferstadt's Radish Queen Jessica I. and Mayor Ilona Volk (Greens), with Volk demonstrating her skills in tapping the free beer barrel - and all without spilling it!

A welcome greeting to the numerous “majesties” of the metropolitan region who came to the ceremonial opening created a festive atmosphere. As a special attraction this year, a newly installed high-voltage connection made it possible to operate a bumper car, which made the offering even more varied for visitors. A diverse program had something for everyone, from rides to culinary specialties and musical performances.

A colorful program for young and old

During the festival, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy an extensive range of food: everything from sweets to crepes and various tarte flambées to classic currywurst was on offer. Several Schifferstadt clubs did the rest to spoil the guests with food and drinks. The musical part of the festival was also not neglected: in the evening the Beat Brothers and the pop artists put everyone in a good mood, while the Schifferstadt men's choir complemented the festival atmosphere with a morning pint on Sunday lunchtime.

There were numerous attractions for the little festival visitors, including bouncy castles, a bungee trampoline, duck fishing and even a small children's carousel. This presented a particular challenge Radish festival run which took place on Saturday with distances of 5 and 10 kilometers as well as short distances for students and children. A balance bike race was also one of the highlights of the children's program.

Arrival and other highlights

A small challenge for drivers: There was no parking at the forest festival site and the access was only open to authorized persons. The city administration recommended traveling by bike, although there was enough parking space on Speyerer Straße. During the event there were road closures on Speyerer Straße, which provided additional entertainment. But despite occasional rain showers on Sunday morning, this did not dampen the festive mood, especially during the performances by the men's choir.

The Radish Festival is not only a beautiful part of the folk festival culture that traditionally begins in spring in Germany, but also offers the opportunity to bring families and friends together to have fun together and celebrate community. Schifferstadt has once again proven that it has a knack for creating unforgettable celebrations that will be remembered for a long time.

The next radish festival is already in the starting blocks - and the anticipation for it is already palpable!
