New kindergarten in Payerbach: groundbreaking ceremony for 5 million euros!

In Payerbach we are working diligently on the future - with the groundbreaking ceremony for a new kindergarten, which will cost 5 million euros. On June 13, 2025, numerous local personalities gathered for this solemn occasion. Local councilors, deputy mayor Joachim Köll, the architectural team freistil x ViA, national councilor Irene Neumann-Hartberger and Michael Polleros from the BH Neunkirchen were also on site. The musical accompaniment was provided by the Payerbach music band and the Prein/Rax traditional band, which gave the event a celebratory touch.

The planned kindergarten at Schulgasse 9 is aimed at 80 to 100 children and includes five groups, including a toddler group. Not only does this ensure healthy early childhood development, but there is also an option to expand to two additional groups should the need increase. In addition to the kindergarten, two doctors' practices, a dentist's practice and a general medicine practice, each with around 190 m² of space, will be created. The project is planned to be completed by summer 2026, with commissioning in September 2026.

Funding and support

The local council meeting in which the decision to take out loans for the kindergarten and the medical center was made took place on September 27, 2024. At this meeting it was unanimously decided to take out a loan of 1,665,800 euros, which has a term of 40 years and an interest rate of initially 3.05% for the first ten years. Mayor Jochen Bous was optimistic about the progress of the project, which provides further planning security. The municipality also reiterates its commitment to creating the necessary framework conditions for local families, so that everyone involved benefits from a well-planned offer.

This initiative is part of the federal government's strategy, which aims to expand and further develop child day care throughout Austria. Loud bmfsfj.de Since 2008, investment programs totaling 5.4 billion euros have been launched, which have created over 750,000 additional places. The care rate for children under three has increased from 17.6% in 2008 to 36.4% in 2023. These figures illustrate the great need for high-quality childcare places, which is supported by programs such as the Child Support Act (KiföG).

The new kindergarten is not just another brick in Payerbach's infrastructure, but a sign of progress in child care that will benefit many families. This means that the community is on the right track to promote the compatibility of work and family and to offer children the best educational and development opportunities.
