The motto of the campaign, which is organized by the Homburg Health Department, is: “HIV & Co. – Get tested – free of charge.” Homburg1 reports that in addition to anonymous and free consultations, medical tests are also offered, including laboratory tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C.

The trained specialists give individual advice, with an HIV test being particularly recommended if at least six weeks have passed since a risky contact. “Regular syphilis examinations are particularly advisable if you have changing sexual contacts,” explains a health department employee. Anonymous offers for everyone

Under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Magnus Jung, all health authorities and AIDS Hilfe Saar offer anonymous, free tests. The offer applies not only to HIV, but also to other sexually transmitted diseases that can increase the risk of HIV infection. Saarpfalz district highlights that early treatment of HIV infection can protect against the development of AIDS and significantly improve life expectancy. In addition, everyone who is sexually active should know about appropriate protection methods.

Condoms are important to reduce the risk of HIV infection and also to prevent other sexually transmitted diseases (STIs). Like that Baden-Württemberg Health Department emphasizes, it is essential to ask the right questions to clarify condom use and to ensure the validity and storage of the product. There is also a lot to consider when it comes to vaccinations: vaccinations against hepatitis A and B, as well as HPV vaccinations for young people, are options that should not be ignored.

At a time when awareness of one's own health is becoming increasingly important, the health department invites all citizens to take active action and get tested. Sometimes you just have to take one small step to make big changes happen.
