The motto of the campaign, which is organized by the Homburg Health Department, is: “HIV & Co. – Get tested – free of charge.” Homburg1 reports that in addition to anonymous and free consultations, medical tests are also offered, including laboratory tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C.
The trained specialists give individual advice, with an HIV test being particularly recommended if at least six weeks have passed since a risky contact. “Regular syphilis examinations are particularly advisable if you have changing sexual contacts,” explains a health department employee. The usefulness of a test for hepatitis B or C will then be clarified in a personal conversation. Even with long-term HIV infections, an examination can be useful in order to stabilize general health. With modern medications, treatment can almost always ensure a normal life expectancy and quality of life.

Anonymous offers for everyone
Under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Magnus Jung, all health authorities and AIDS Hilfe Saar offer anonymous, free tests.
