Serious accident in Lebach: 83-year-old fights for his life!

A serious traffic accident shook the city of Lebach on Friday afternoon, November 28, 2025. At 12:00 p.m., an 83-year-old driver lost control of his Audi and plowed into the parked cars at the inner-city roundabout on Marktstrasse. The impact was so severe that the vehicle ended up resting on its roof between the parked cars and damaging a shop window. The police estimate the total damage to be in the low six-figure range; the exact surveys are still ongoing.

The driver was seriously injured in the incident and his life is in danger. In addition, a passer-by was involved in the accident and suffered serious injuries. The fire department and an emergency doctor were immediately there to care for the injured and the scene of the accident was secured. Marktstrasse had to be closed for several hours, which led to significant traffic delays. According to the daily news and the Saarbrücken newspaper Investigations into the cause of the accident are already underway.

Cause of accident and consequences

The exact course of the accident is currently unclear as the police are carrying out a comprehensive accident analysis. “We have commissioned a traffic report,” said the public prosecutor’s office. The connection to a similar incident that happened just a few days ago in Neunkirchen raises questions. A driver there also lost control and fell onto her roof. This also brings us back to the topic of traffic safety and the need for measures to improve traffic management in our cities.

The Traffic safety statistics shows how important preventive measures are. Accidents with personal injuries and property damage require an analysis in order to avoid such events in the future. They are the basis for decisions in legislation and investments in infrastructure as well as traffic education and vehicle technology.

It is hoped that those injured will recover quickly and that these tragic incidents will help raise awareness about road safety. Lebach, a town with otherwise peaceful streets, learned a painful lesson today. We will continue to monitor developments and report as soon as new information becomes available.
